Three Times World Cup Winner Pele Will Travel To Russia

Yes, you heard it right! Three times FIFA World Cup winner, the Brazilian legend Pele will travel to Russia. He was battled ailing in the recent years, has been cleared by doctors to travel to Russia for the FIFA World Cup. The 77-year-old was given the news after undergoing intense physiotherapy to overcome back and hip problems, Folha de S.Paulo newspaper reported on Friday, citing Pele’s long-time personal assistant Jose Fornos.

Pele is in high demand from Sponsors and Organisers

The former Brazilian who scored 1281 goals in 1363 games in high demand from sponsors and the organizers to make the guest appearance during the FIFA World Cup which is set to begin from 14 June 2018 in Russia. He will meet with his advisors next week to discuss his World Cup agenda.

Pele is considered as one of the greatest Footballers in the history. He has been afflicted by a series of health issues. In addition to spinal pain and complications from hip replacement surgery, the former Santos player has been hospitalized several times with prostate and kidney problems.

While playing for Brazil National Football team, he won the FIFA World Cup in 1958, 1962, and 1970, the first ever player to do so. In December 2000, Pele and Maradona shared the prize of FIFA Player of the Century by the Governing Football Body FIFA. The award was originally intended to be based upon votes in a web poll, but after it became apparent that if favored Diego Maradona, many observers complained that the Internet nature of the poll would have meant a skewed demographic of younger fans who would have seen Maradona play, but not Pelé.

Brazil will begin their FIFA World Cup 2018 campaign against Switzerland on 17 June. Team squad of Brazil has been announced featuring Neymar, Firmino, Jesus, Marcelo, among others. They are in Group E with Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Serbia. Selecao last reached Semifinal round. Will they finish better this time?
